    The Tata Motors Zest is offered with two engine options:

    • Diesel – Powerful and proven 1.3 litre Quadrajet diesel engine with common-rail direct injection diesel with variable geometry turbocharger

  • Q4. Does the Zest come with Electric Power Steering?

    • Yes, the Zest is equipped with ePAS or Electric Powered Assisted Steering with Active return function
    • This speed sensitive power steering is very light and easy to use at lower speeds e.g. when manoeuvring in city traffic. At higher speeds the steering firms up for better control stability e.g. on the highway at 70 kmph
    • The active return function instantly gets the steering back to its original position after manoeuvring a tight turn


  • Q5. What is the difference between the projector lens headlamps of the Zest and a normal headlamp?

    • A projector lens headlamp uses advanced lens technology to generate far greater illumination than a conventional headlamp bulb
    • The projector lens headlamps in the Zest give it far superior headlamp illumination compared to the competition which use conventional headlamps
    • Projector lens headlamps also add to the Zest’s style quotient


  • Q6. What are the LED DRLs in the projector headlamps of the Zest? Is it something new?

    • These are Light Emitting Diodes (LED), Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) (first-in-segment)
    • These lights allow your vehicle to be more visible to other drivers on the road and prevent collision in emergency situations
    • Apart from this safety, they also enhance the styling of the Zest

    • Multi-drive mode is a first-in-segment feature in the Revotron 1.2T petrol engine that modifies the engine output to suit driving requirements
    • 3 DRIVING modes:
      • Eco: Optimum engine output: power & torque: for best fuel efficiency (Mileage)
      • Sport: Maximum engine output – for performance driving experience (Power)

  • Q8. What do you mean by Revotron 1.2T petrol’s Flat torque curve and what are its benefits?

    • Develops its peak torque of 140 Nm @ 1500~4000 rpm
    • Flat torque curve means that you do not require to frequently shift gears while driving in city traffic conditions
    • In fact, you can easily drop your speed to a low 20 kmph even while being in 3rd gear or accelerate from a low speed without changing gears

  • Q15. What is SVC and its benefit?

    • SVC or Speed-dependent Volume Control is a feature in Zest’s Harman™ infotainment system
    • A clever feature that automatically raises the music volume when the vehicle speed is increased
    • The intensity of music adapts to your speed thus compensating for the increase in ambient noise.
    • This automatic volume adjustment by SVC adds to convenience and safety as well


  • Q16. How safe is the Zest?

    • The Zest features several active and passive safety features

  • Q17. The rear seat appears cramped - leg room appears less than other cars. I don't think 3 people can sit comfortably here?

    • The rear seat leg room is more than ample and at par with competition. Zest has the Best-in-class rear shoulder and head room which can occupy 3 people comfortably. Why don't we sit and experience it for ourselves?
  • Q18. The beige colour may get dirty and accumulate dust soon.

    The Zest uses advanced best in class material from Japanese maker Mitsui for its interiors. It possesses Antistatic properties that avoid dust collection and soiling. It also is soft feel and improves, retains newness in terms of fading over the time.

  • Q20. Can I access internet on the HARMAN system?

    No you cannot access internet on the HARMAN system.

  • Q21. Tata cars are not known for petrol engines, how is the Zest any different?

    The Zest from Tata Motors is powered by the Powerful Revotron 1.2 MPFi Turbocharged Petrol engine for power packed performance. Segment first features like Turbocharger, Multi-drive mode. This engine gives class leading power of 90 PS, class & leading torque of 140 Nm @ 1500-4000 rpm with flat torque curve characteristics. This engine is the new benchmark in the 1.2 litre MPFi petrol engine class.

  • Q22. Tata Motors Revotron Engine has only 8 valves against 16 valve engines of Competition. How is then Revotron better than competition?

    • 16V valve train is used to let additional air into the engine (better breathing) for better burning of fuel and high speed operation. This can also be achieved through use of Turbocharger.
    • The Revotron 1.2T petrol engine uses an advanced technology of a turbocharger in a petrol MPFi engine (First in class) to supply larger quantity of air into the engine for high power and torque compared to the competition engines which is evident by torque and power output in Revotron 1.2T.
